The Lodge, 2005

The first official guests at the Lodge - what a privilege! We loved every minute of our spring getaway and our first visit to Puget Island. The only stress was in not getting so relaxed that we would miss a ship heading up or down the river!

You can see everything outside through the many windows! I've used the binoculars numerous times to look for my husband and the boys out on the boat. P.S. Thanks for finding the chicken video for us to enjoy again.

Great to stay at the Lodge with the improved kayak launching and good to say hello again.

Hunting for eggs with the children, building sand castles, watching the ships glide by, and picking blackberries were special. We enjoyed the books, the videos, the super beds, and your attention to detail.

What an incredible experience! So relaxing and inviting. We loved the solitude and company of friends and family in this little paradise.

The Lodge was great! We loved being so close to the river and hearing the low rumble of the ships passing by! Your kitchen was great. I love the windows and the morning sun coming in. The simple farm life definitely has its appearl.

The river is beautiful with muted coloring during this (Fall) season. We enjoyed Irish music at the Pioneer Church in Cathlamet and fish and chips at the Riverview Restaurant. The rain sound on the roof and the alders dripping remind me of my childhood cabin in Minnesota.

The FarmHouse, 2005

We thank you so very much for sharing your FarmHouse with us. The heron, eagle, osprey, deer, and harrier hawks were fabulous to see against the fabulous "ever" changing sky. The cloud formations, sun, rain, wind, and rainbows were beautiful. We spent every day spring Chinook fishing on the magnificent Columbia River. I caught my biggest ever - about 35 pounds.

Vacation... ahhhh. Peace and quiet... or at least time away! 7 moms of 13.5 kids under 4 (one on the way) having a ball, eating chocolate, and letting their hair down for 3 whole days! And... NO Barney!!!

We had a wonderful stay here at the little FarmHouse by the cow pasture. The eggs in the fridge, the bread machine, the bikes, the comfy beds - all the little details meake it a GREAT getaway.

We had another wonderful stay. The kids enjoyed every moment: collecting eggs, feeding the goats, putting out a bunch of apples for the deer, flying kites, building sand castles, seeing turkey vultures with wings spread, going to Astoria's Farmers Market, visiting Seaside and Long Beach watching ships, spotting ravens, herons, hawks, and eagles. Quite a treat for us all.

This was a great getaway. Very peaceful and fun. My sister and I loved the beach and our parents enjoyed the history. We all enjoyed Puget Island.

The FarmHouse, 2004

This is a wonderfully peaceful, quiet place. A great respite from the busy, city life.

Being from Florida and always having road noise, it was nice to get away from it all and hear the cows and see the boats. Also, a note to anyone else who reads this: the Take 'n Bake Pizza is wonderful. Best pizza I've had!

We saw 4 deer yesterday frolicking and playing tag around the house. I've never seen deer do anything but eat and run away. Oh, and the baby was showing his spots and giving the adults a run around.

Saw eagles, ravens, beaver and experienced the thrill of container ships in the front yard.

We liked the beautiful environment (sky, big fields, water, breeze), playing on the beach, the garden (wonderful sweet, delicious vegetables, and beautiful flowers).

Four generations met here to spend loving time with each other. Grandparents with new babies, siblings long overdue for sharing memories, and mothers busy with toddler exploring... we enjoyed it all. After everyone left, my husband and I sat on the front stairs and watched a pari of bald eagles. What a treat!

The farm served as a nice "base camp" from which to begin our SW Washington adventure. It's all in the details, in our opinion, and the home was well stocked and comfortable.

Thank you for letting us enjoy your farmhouse and the little extras all around! We really enjoyed your chicken video and the ships going by were just amazing!!

We are truly blessed! To spend a fantastic holiday with our family her at the FarmHouse! ... laughter, love, too much food, deer, great weather, shops, quiet, and a tour of the farm

The FarmHouse, 2003

What a peaceful place. It's hard to imagine being any more off the beaten track.

The kids had fun with the chickens. The big ships sailing silently up and down the channel. The blackberries and rhubarb pie was so special. The bike riding, no traffic - no stop lights. The grandson learning to ride his first bike - a royal success story.

This has been one of the BEST vacations we've ever had. The scenery and green refreshed our souls and the slience helped our minds to rest. This place has been such a blessing. We appreciated the tour of the farm. Your hospitality is heartwarming.

We loved it here on the Peaceful Island - quiet nights, rain on the roof, and everything we needed was right where it should be. We rode the ferry backwards with a full moon, singing frogs, touring mossy, lichened back-roads, and sleepy, little neighborhoods, rising waters, cliffs, and climbing 162 stairs to see everything (Astoria Column). Quiet, quiet, quiet.

This is so cool! I love this place! Thank you for letting us pick some cucumbers and strawberries and more. They taste so good. Marlene, age 12

What an incredibly relaxing spot - very amazing how many hours a person can watch cows from the back deck!

We had a wonderful stay and "Everything was perfect." We had delicious hard boiled eggs from our early Easter egg hunt. Thank you. We had so much fun!!!! Stella, age 8

What an awesome farmhouse and the surrounding wildlife. Spring fishing was very successful. We saw lots of new birds and the deer were in the front yard every morning. We cooked up some great meals, BBQ Springer salmon with scallops and BBQ ribs with asparagus and roasted potatoes. The beds were very comfortable. Watching ships pass by was a pleasant surprise.

The FarmHouse, 2002

Thank you for providing such a comfortable environment for a relaxing weekend! The rainy weather was a perfect backdrop for playing board games, doing a puzzle, and reading. We also ventured into Cathlamet for a couple of good meals and some book and antique browsing. We look forward to returning again.

Three beautiful days of tranquility - hawks, swallows, deer, and the occasional, enormous ship looming from the west. We enjoyed a paddle up Brooks Slough and the Skamokawa River and look forward to another trip.

We had a wonderful time staying at this house. I liked going to your farm and seeing a Barn cat and all your chickens and goats. We went to the swimming pool and the Maritime Museum (in Astoria) and lots of other things. I also went down the waterslide at the pool. Cecilia, age 7

I especially liked the chickens. We are interested in getting some ourselves. Post script: They did!

This is, by far, the most contented, calm, and quiet we have ever been! We awoke in the morning, lazing around the house; and if we wanted to go, we co; if not, well, who cared. That, to a group of women with kids, husband, and responsibilities, was a true vacation. Thank you for a clean, bright, comfortable home.

We really enjoyed our very relaxing stay. The kids (ages 11, 4, and 18 months)also loved visiting the goats and chickens. I enjoyed laying on the immense lawn reading a trashy movel and my husband enjoyed the deer, the river, and the solitude. Thank you for providing a temporary haven from our busy lives!
